Pulp and Paper
The resilience of the pulp and paper industry is a lesson in technological advancements and responsive change management.
Accurate testing each and every time.
Similar to the mining industry, the pulp and paper sector has truly had to live by the motto of “adapt or perish” as the world switched from newsprint to electronic media at the same time governments implemented more stringent requirements related to the harvest practices and effluent limits from the production of paper and paper-products.
The industry continues to rise to the challenge by implementing more environmentally-friendly harvesting techniques and innovating technologies such as the development of nanofibers to potentially replace plastics, or pioneering new thermal and chemical treatments to reduce resulting waste pollutants from the manufacturing process.
Testmark remains a key partner by providing accredited testing services required for MISA-based effluent compliance, toxicity testing and assisting with process-based testing to help trouble-shoot production issues which can arise from the more advanced chemical processes adopted by paper mills.
