Toxicology & pH Stabilization Testing

Toxicity testing involves exposing living organisms, in a carefully controlled environment, to a test material to determine the potential toxic effects on the test organism. Like the ‘canary in the mine shaft’, these tests confirm whether the sample has a toxic effect on an indicator species.

Testmark provides accredited acute, LC50 and pH Stabilization toxicity testing using Rainbow Trout and Daphnia Magna in support of effluent monitoring programs, general compliance testing and investigative studies. We adhere to Environment Canada’s standard reference methods EPS 1/RM/13, EPS 1/RM/14 and EPS 1/RM/50.

Knowing that a sample has a toxic effect is important, but identifying what the contaminants are is often equally valuable to our industrial and municipal clients. With a full-service environmental lab available in the same facility as our toxicology lab, Testmark can quickly pivot and perform an ecotoxicity study by triggering further testing to help pinpoint the probable cause of the toxicity failure.

To ensure a positive customer experience, our lab analysts are proficient at uploading your data to Environment Canada’s RISS/MERS portal. We can also provide daily updates on the status of your test to assist with real-time decision making for you and your team.
